Tales of Texas Event Details:

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which guarantees women the right to vote. In honor of this historic occasion, this year’s Tales of Texas event will spotlight the women and men who were advocates for women’s right to vote.

While the passage of the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote, there were also some exclusions. A special exhibit called “The Passing of the 19th Amendment: Now What?” will be on display inside the Longhorn Barn.

“Even though the 19th amendment may have given women the right to vote, that wasn’t the end of the battle,” said Megan Cromeens, 1860s Ryon Prairie Home Site Lead. “There was so much more to be done for those in minority communities to overcome adversity that prevented them from being able to exercise their right to vote.”
