Charges have been filed against a DWI suspect from Sugar Land who struck and killed a pedestrian on HWY 6 over the weekend.
The suspect, Trenton Gilbert Phillips (35, Sugar Land), is charged with misdemeanor DWI in Harris County Criminal Court # 1.
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roque and Officer A. Mares reported:
The suspect, driving a gray Ford Fusion, was traveling through the intersection of Highway 6 and Piping Rock with a green light when the victim stepped out into the street and was struck. Phillips, as well as a witness in an additional vehicle, pulled over and attempted to render aid to the victim. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation determined Phillips was intoxicated and he was then arrested.
