Investigators were able to put a name and face to a robbery suspect who was part of a group that hit a Walgreens in Sugar Land earlier this month.
According to reports from SLPD, on February 7, 2019, an aggravated robbery occurred at the Walgreens store located in the 4700 block of Sweetwater. Multiple males entered the store armed with handguns and took cash. Detectives coordinated with other agencies including the Harris County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety during the investigation and learned that the group was believed to be responsible for many robberies around the Houston Metro area.
Then, on February 12, 2019, the group robbed another Walgreens store located near Katy where investigators were able to apprehend two suspects (Read that story HERE!!). SLPD Detectives obtained a confession from one of the suspects for the robbery here in Sugar Land and an arrest warrant was served on him today at the Fort Bend County jail for aggravated robbery.
The suspect is identified as Joshua Dewayne Prater, a 21-year-old male from Houston. Prater currently is booked into the Fort Bend County jail on a $225,000 combined bond for the robberies.
