According to reports from the Sugar Land Police Department, on August 1, 2018, SLPD surveillance units observed Cole Comparetto in the process of committing a theft when he used a saw to cut off the catalytic converter of a vehicle that was parked in the Macy's parking garage of the First Colony Mall. Cole Comparetto fled from officers, but was later arrested and charged.

On January 6, 2019, Comparetto was identified by a victim who reported that he caught Comparetto in the act of stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle, which was parked in the Walmart parking lot. During Comparetto's attempt to flee, the victim reported being struck and slightly injured by Comparetto's vehicle. Later a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Comparetto for the charge of "Robbery" due to the fact that Comparetto caused injury to another person in the commission of a theft.

On February 27, 2019, Sugar Land police officers and members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force located Comperetto in the 15000 block of Park Glen in Fort Bend County, where Comparetto surrendered to police.
