Child killed by father's car!!

A Sugar Land family is heartbroken after a horrible accident took the life of 3-year-old Dia Nebhnani.

According to reports from the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, at around 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, a call came into 9-1-1 about a child being ran over in a driveway in the Avalon at Riverstone subdivision.

The father (Nick Nebhnani) of the child had started the car to cool it down before they were set to leave their home. It somehow went into reverse and struck the 3-year-old before he could jump in and stop it.

The family had only lived in the house for a couple of weeks.

Witness statements corroborated what the father had told investigators.

Authorities impounded the vehicle and checked the father's blood for intoxicants, which is standard procedure for an incident as this. They found zero evidence that would make them think this was nothing more than a horrible accident.

The news said it was the Dad...there goes father of the year! It's hard to fathom that he would have blamed his child.

@Bubbapie : the police stated it was a language barrier that caused the first errant report.

@Bubbapie : Ah, early reports he left to run into the garage, the little girl got out and walked behind and the boy climbed into the seat and put the car into gear. Horrid, horrid story.
