The Dairy Ashford rail crossing wayside horns are scheduled to be removed on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. This removal is to accommodate pavement reconfiguration in the rail crossing area.
The new crossing will be too wide for horns on both sides to provide the required decibel level. A new third horn will be required in the median. The new median location is shifting to the east where north bound lanes are currently. During the construction at the crossing, trains will be blowing their horns while the wayside horns are down. The wayside horns will be reinstalled once pavement reconfiguration is completed. The estimated reinstallation of the wayside horns is tentatively scheduled for December 2019.
Motorists are required to adhere to all construction signage and be cautious while traveling in the construction influence area. Travelers should expect delays for the necessary improvements.
Dates are subject to change due to weather or as needed. The City will continue to post up-to-date information as soon as available.
