Thanks to a collaborative effort led by the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office, a new Texas law named for Missouri City resident Lisa Torry Smith will go into effect this September, making it a crime, punishable by fines and up to two years in prison, to hit and cause injury to a person in a crosswalk. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office commends the Torry-Smith family for their unwavering commitment to honor their loved one and help prevent more tragedies.
Do people do that? What's wrong with them? What annoys me are the ones who ignore the crosswalk signals, crossing against the lights. Then traffic has to stop and wait for them, and they never seem to be in a hurry.
@chiu0nthls : I have experienced the same. People just cross the road out of nowhere and that too in the middle of the road. I believe that both the pedestrians and the drivers should respect each other.
