Mail Theft is a serious crime
Mail Theft is a serious crime and under Texas Penal Code 31.20 is punishable by fine and/or jail. The Sugar Land Police Department closely works with The United States Postal Inspector to combat crimes related to mail.
Around 1:30AM on October 31, 2022, Sugar Land Police Officers located a reported stolen vehicle in the area of Sugar Lakes Blvd and U.S 59. Inside the stolen car officers found “Mail” belonging to various victims in Houston.
Two were were arrested for driving a stolen vehicle, drug violations and possession of stolen mail.
SLPD Investigators are trying to find out if Velasquez and Chapa are responsible for Mail Theft in Sugar Land. So far, the recovered mail appears to belong to residents in the City of Houston.
