New Solid Waste Schedule that took effect on January 16, 2023
The City of Sugar Land is three weeks into their solid waste transition, y'all! How are you feeling? Here are some of our most frequently asked questions from the past 24 days👇
Q: Where can I get clear bags? I can't find them anywhere!
A: You should be able to find clear bags at any department store. The bags can be translucent or have a milky tint of color. The most important thing is that the bags need to be see through! If you don't want to use clear bags, you can also put your green waste in a separate container to be picked up! Get more details on that here 👉

Q: I don't understand the new bulky waste system. Can you explain the new on-call system?
A: The only thing that changed with your bulky waste service is that it is now ON-CALL! What does this mean? It means each household can now schedule 12 bulky waste collections a year at the times that are most beneficial to them — use it when you need it! But just because bulky waste is now on-call does not mean that limits are out the window! You are only allowed 5 cubic yards of bulky waste per pickup. THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO GET RID OF 14 TVS AT ONCE. (True story.) If you put out your bulky waste to be picked up on a Monday, it will NOT get picked up. You will need to schedule a pickup by submitting a request at
www.republicservices .com/municipality/su gar-land-tx?fbclid=I wAR3hZreM_BZdJ1 or calling Republic at 713-726-7307!
Q: My trash didn't get picked up!
A: Your service day might have changed! Even if you think you know your service days, they need you to type your address at this link →
bit.ly/FindMyService Day to confirm. From here, it'll give you all the info you need to know about solid waste service days!
If you did put out your trash on the right day but it still didn't get picked up, it's possible you missed the collection! Due to new, optimized service routes, trucks are moving faster through neighborhoods. Remember, you have a service day, not a service time so please make sure that you are setting your items out BEFORE 7 AM on your service day to ensure proper collection.
