City of Sugar Land City Council Meeting

In case you missed it, on the night of March 7th, 2023, Chief Poland presented the Police Departments Annual Report to City Council. With over 70 Officers in attendance, Chief Poland highlighted the tremendous job officers have done over the past year and outlined plans for the department moving forward. He presented the police department's new mission statement “The Sugar Land Police Department will prevent and suppress crime through constitutional policing, partnerships, and innovation; serving our community in a professional, courageous, and compassionate manner.”, as well as the department's Vision Statement “Our Team will establish the industry standard for law enforcement services. We will continuously strive to advance the standards of professionalism, accountability, and leadership at all levels.”
Chief Poland highlighted the professionalism with which his Officers conduct themselves, stating out of almost 23,000 traffic stops during 2022, only 2 ended in a use of force situation. Chief also spoke on the future plans for training, transparency, and partnerships to help suppress and prevent crime, as well as introducing our newest 4-legged members (Flox and Marcel) to City Council members! They look forward to a great 2023!
