‘Click it or Ticket’ Campaign

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office will join many other Texas law enforcement agencies for TxDOT’s annual Click It or Ticket campaign. This year, the campaign will run from May 22 through June 4.
Since May 2022, Sheriff’s deputies have issued 113 seatbelt citations. Over half of those citations involved children not wearing a seat belt. More specifically, 23 citations were issued for children under 8 not being in a child safety seat or booster seat. Texas law requires the driver and all passengers in a vehicle to be secured by a seat belt.
“Click It or Ticket.” It’s simple, it’s the law and it’s a reminder from the Texas Department of Transportation that seat belts save lives.
“With Memorial Day weekend and the summer vacation season approaching, they are urging people to buckle their seat belts every time they get in their vehicle,” said TxDOT Executive Director James Bass. “Every person in a vehicle – front seat or back seat – needs to buckle up. Not only is it the law, but seat belts save lives.”
