Tracing Texas Through Time: A Journey in Archeology
Tracing Texas Through Time: A Journey in Archeology

Event Details:

Join us on Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 PM at the Rosenberg Civic Center for our FREE monthly program, "Tracing Texas Through Time: A Journey in Archeology" with Sharon Menegaz.

This presentation explores the timeline of Texas archeology, examining how archeologists define different eras and what these periods reveal about the lives of people in Texas more than 21,000 years ago. It highlights discoveries from Texas Archeological Society (TAS) Field Schools over the past 25 years and explains how artifacts, tools, and remains help us understand how people adapted to Texas environments.

The program will also cover cultural developments from Ice Age hunter-gatherers to trade networks, pottery, and tools, and how modern excavations and volunteer field schools continue to expand knowledge of the past.

About the speaker: Sharon Menegaz has been a member of the Texas Archeological Society for 25 years and is active in outreach, education, and membership programs. She also serves on the Texas Historical Commission’s Archeological Stewards Network.

Programs are free and open to the public. The event will be held in person, with a virtual Zoom option available. After registering, attendees will receive a confirmation email with joining details.
