Masala Wok in Sugar Land is closing their doors today. We went there today for our last meal and the employees told us that they were all shutting down and moving everything to their westheimer location. Apparently the rent has increased at this location and the competition is also intense. Right across used to be Newks and they ran out of business few years ago. We liked the fast food menu here and it's unfortunate to see this happen to Masala Wok after surviving so many years in Sugar Land.
A lot of places in Sugar Land that I liked have closed and or moved to other spots. I really miss Einstein Bros because I loved their cinnamon chip coffee cake. And Dessert Gallery, which is now only open at Kirby
@Stealth83 : Very well said. Good to have choices but this ultimately effects the business when people don't show up. Houston has so many food and dining options. It's mind boggling.
We ate at a Chinese place over here yesterday. At 12:30 on a Sat we were the only people in the whole place. Four or five people stopped in for take out, but that was it. I hope they're busier on other days, the food was good.
Sorry to hear of the closing. Really liked the place but as someone alluded to earlier these landlords are killing Sugarland businesses. Businesses can adjust to a moderate rent increase but some of these guys want to double rent and businesses cant do that. Plenty of empty retail and restaurant spots are dotting Sugarland and more are likely to follow
Landlords have become greedy and this is affecting the pockets of small businesses. The Landlords need to draw a thin line with business owners so that the shopping plaza is not vacant!
