New supermarket called Seafood City Supermarket in Sugar Land

There's a new Filipino supermarket that just opened up in Sugar Land! 🇵🇭

They have so many things, like a Grill City where they cook meats in front of you, a bakery with hot and fresh bread, lots of Asian snacks, meat market, produce section with unique fruits and veggies, and of course lots of fresh seafood!

Warning...there were lots of lines. I am waiting for the lines to die down, but hope you don't have to wait for too long!

Yes, I saw their sign at the very beginning stage. Sounds like this would be a great place to get some interesting stuff!

Now that sounds interesting, I've haven't seen anything about this anywhere else. Something to do next week, when things slow down.

Seafood City is home to an on-site grill, bakery, as well as an extensive array of snacks, produce, and other goods!😍

An inside look: Texas' first Seafood City Supermarket opens in Sugar Land

The supermarket specializing in Filipino foods is the first Seafood City to open in the state of Texas.

This is not a mom and pop sized store, this is a 50,000 square foot store with a Filipino specialty bakery and a Filipino Bar-B-Que restaurant located inside.
Seafood City Supermarket, first founded in San Diego in 1989 has quickly grown to 32 stores nationwide and the stores that are being opened are being strategically located in communities with the largest populations of Filipino-Americans.

"Seafood City brings a sense of Filipino home to the Houston area. It's a place where you can find products and ingredients specifically for Filipino dishes," said Meg Austria, store manager.

"We used to have to go to 2 or 3 different, small, Filipino stores to get something that we actually want but over here we just, it's one stop shop," said Sheryl Omandeac, a local salesperson and Filipino-American who moved to the U.S. ten years ago.

An estimated 28,548 Harris County residents identify as Filipino-Americans and throughout Texas there are more than 235,000 Filipino-Americans according to the 2020 American Community Survey, conducted by the Census Bureau.

Where once Filipino families would have to shop and stop at multiple mom and pop shops all over town to find the traditional foods they are looking for, now they can find it all in one place at Seafood City.

Seafood City Supermarket opened its doors on December 14th in Sugar Land.
The store is open every day 8:00am to 9:00pm and is located at 15235 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land.

Good to know it has calmed down. I know my parents went to a store over there and said that place was packed.

@snv86 :
It was probably busy since it's new and the holiday season (Christmas and New Year) I bet it will be busy for the Chinese, Vietnamese New Year in the beginning of Feb.

It's in the building where Conn's use to be. It also looks like they used the area where Tuesday morning was.
