Anyone been to Nick's Italian (speaking of
no-chain restaurants) since they changed ownership? Old grouchy Nick moved back to Greece. Friends tell me it's still delicious!! The new Chinese owner says you don't mess with success. He says he won't change to recipes or menu. I do wish he would open the bar! That long gorgeous bar just sits collecting dust! Forgive me if you've discussed this already.

@Tintin : Nick's Italian Restaurant is at 11511 FM 1464 in Richmond 77407.
Btw Safari Texas is over there also. Nick's is just passed Austin High School and just before Safari Texas on the right side. Order the famous Crusted Chicken Pistachio or is it Pistacio Crusted Chicken? They also make it with Red Snapper but it's not on the menu. You have to ask. I had the snapper. Out of this world delicious. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays you can bring your favorite wine.

@Rosemary6 : Thanks a lot. Me and my wife have been debating over visiting that place for a while. Now that we have your testimony I have to check it out. Have a good night

@Tintin : Nick's has had a good solid reputation for decades for fine Italian food. Nick just retired very recently. There was only wine, maybe beer. No hard alcohol. Today with the new owner that may have changed.

That's a good rule to live by. "Don't fix it if it ain't broke!"

@Rosemary6 : We love Nicks. Food has always been excellent. Glad they are not changing menu. One of their specialties is their Shrimp Scampi . Never had it but love their salad dressing and always loved the Veal Parmigian and BB always loved the Veal Marsala with Fettucini alfredo.
Was not aware it was under new management. Hope the food continues to be the same. It is on 1464 past Austin High school .

They have a house special for shrimp that will send you to the moon. It's my favorite. Fantastic food and service.

@rmz54 : Are you talking about the Shrimp Scampi or another shrimp dish? I haven't tried the shrimp dishes in a long time. We only go occasionally on our anniversary or birthdays. If anyone goes there, please tell us what you ordered and if you liked it. Lunch is always less expensive of course. And remember if you go on Tuesdays and Wednesdays you can save more by bringing your own wine!! How cool is that??

@Rosemary6 : Nick did retire about a year ago and didn't move to Greece. He's still here according to his old wait staff. The new owner, Chris, is not Chinese either. The food continues to be delicious and no change in anything. I do agree that the bar would be lovely if utilized!

@Rosemary6 : One of our favorite places. A nice Indian couple bought Nicks. His wife and Nicks ex wife good friends.
Nicks ex wife still works there to help out some. Same chef. 😉
We love the food. Haven't been there in couple months but has always been good
