Even the remains aren't identified and could be those of prisoners in which no one came to claim their remains. They could be building a memorial for murderers, rapists, robbers...etc

They probably are, it being a prison. So what? The 18th and 19th century British ground up Egyptian mummies for fertilizer, I can't see people standing for that these days. They have to be put somewhere decent, whoever they were.

I nominate Les Newton of Planned Community Developers, who sold that land to FBISD.....who has received so many gifts from the taxpayers of Sugar Land in the form of infrastructure built to support his projects......special tax investment zones, and the direct loans from the city of Sugar Land to the tax reinvestment zones that are essentially his.......maybe he would like to take this opportunity to give back...

@BlackBird : Yes, rebury them but there is no need treat them special by having a big memorial ceremony just because some people ASSume they were all black & mistreated.

I can't argue with you. No reason to assume they were all black, either, far as I know, I could be wrong. I've had more things on my mind lately than who's buried where, but anyone deserves a decent burial. Myself, I'm going to be turned into a diamond and then I'm going to will whoever has displeased me the most to have to wear it. I intend the actual designee to change on a weekly, if not hourly, basis. I always aspired to be a grumpy old woman, and I feel it coming on faster than even I anticipated.

I think I read that FBISD is spending around $1 million taxpayer dollars to provide a decent burial & historical study of the graves. oh well - we do it for the students.

"Workers discovered the bodies earlier this year. The process if expected to take about a month and cost around $1 million."

I am sorry but that money could be used somewhere better, like food kitchens or to help the homeless. They do deserve to get buried but not spend the money on someone that is already dead. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings but the souls are gone
