From Fort Bend ISD:

The Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees has approved the 2025–26 school year operating budget, totaling $901.6 million—and it includes a robust compensation plan designed to retain and attract top talent across the district.

Highlights of the new compensation plan:
- Starting teacher salary raised to $63,000
- Up to $5,000 in signing bonuses for hard-to-fill positions
- Two wellness days for all full-time employees
- No increase in health insurance premiums or deductibles
- Continued access to low-cost procedures through LANTERN
- Incentives for bus drivers with perfect attendance
- A two-year district supplement for eligible staff not covered by the state allotment

The plan is supported by 7 disaster pennies, a temporary provision in Texas law that allows for an increase in the tax rate following a declared disaster. The Board will vote to adopt the final tax rate in September.

Hope we can keep current teachers and hire more good teachers. Our future depends on it!
