My friend and I met up for dinner last Sunday at Lupe Tortillas simply because she wanted a good sangria. I normally used to avoid this place. The food is good but the Mexican music was crazy loud. We were pleasantly surprised by much softer music this time. I asked the waiter what was really good to eat. He suggested the ribs!! I am a huge rib fan. The "smaller" portion is nine big ribs, $20, with delicious beans and rice, plus pico De gallo. I ate too many chips and salsa so I had 4 leftover ribs for lunch the next day. 13 ribs is $30. But the rib bone is COMPLETELY covered with beef!!! Well mostly. I think it was beef!! I don't think it was pork. Either way it was tender and flavorful!! Good sangria!!!
I have only eaten there once, but as a Harvey survivor they are now near and dear to my heart. Once you've been here long enough to live thru a couple of 'weather events' you will cherish restaurants who open right after, even with limited menus.
@BlackBird We also came to Lupe Tortilla a few days after the hurricane to celebrate my sister’s bday. We were craving normalcy and this place provided that for us.
