Good, if not Great, pita bread.

Does anyone know of a bakery or grocery store with fresh, tasty pita bread? The stuff I pick up in the grocery stores is just not worth it, and I want to make gyros tomorrow. I'm considering making my own, but I'd rather just buy good ones.

@BlackBird : Try and see if Fadis will sell you bread only, they make it right there..
We used to buy fresh pita bread from Droubi bakery on hillcroft, but its a drive to hillcroft,..
or google middle eastern bakery.... So what time can I come by for fresh yummy Gyros ??

Phoenicia on Westheimer has great Pita Bread but it's also a drive. Wish there was one in Sugar Land.

Thanks, Droubi's is a lot closer than anything in Sugar Land to me, as a matter of fact I'm headed over there right now. This is just a mile further down the road.

@BlackBird : I recommend trying Fadis or Dimasis in Sugar Land for fresh pitas. Turquoise in Sugar Land town square will also have pitas. Also in Hillcroft area, you will find Bijon's Persian Grill. They have delicious food also.

@BlackBird : HEB makes fresh pita bread and it's delicious. I like Fadi's Mediterranean food pita bread but you have to eat it in 1 day or it gets hard. It's made fresh there.

Thanks for all the ideas! Just got back from Droubi's right down the street from me. I now own not just pita, but rose petal jelly, lovely looking yogurt, huge bags of spices, dates, and a few other things. Next time I'll make my own, but today I just don't have the time to devote.

If you show up with vodka there is never a bad time.

I'm just zoning on the rose petal jelly, thumb print cookies? Cream cheese on crackers, with a dab in the center? The possibilities....
