Leaf blower alarm clock Emoticon

I was awakened this morning by the soothing sound of a blaring leaf blower right outside my bedroom window at 7:30 am.

Aren't they supposed to wait until 8?

I love those kinds of alarm clocks!

Off topic-ish, when I was married and lived in Cypress, our lawn guys would be in the neighbourhood 7am sharp. one particular morning they arrived at 645 and proceeded with weed whacking. I awoke with a start and was so peeved and turned over in bed to complain to my ex-husband. Alas, it wasn't any lawn person, it was his snoring. :-/

@TheBigBadWolf Ugh I hate when this happens on the weekend... I really think they should have to wait until 10 or even later on any day to do all of that.

I checked the SL noise ordinance and unfortunately there is no time listed for lawn crews. While searching I noticed the City Of Houston changed their ordinance to 8 a.m. from 7 a.m. a few years ago. I think we need to follow suit. Gonna email my councilman.

Fortunately for me, my dogs always wake me up well before 7 a.m. Emoticon

Email from my councilman:

Hey Randy, sorry about that. Our noise ordinance is old and limited, so it may not help. I'll check. I know the city is working on an update, so I'll pass this along to them with my support to include it if it's not already in the current one.

I hate it when I walk Casey before the sun comes up and some car drives by with the stereo blasting that hard bass sound. Seems like it would be hard to sit behind the wheel to hear that wonderful pounding at 5 AM. I get a minute of it and have enough.

Another email from my councilman. Looks like he asked the City Manager or Attorney:

Randy - as I suspected, our current noise ordinance is out of date and has limited help for you. You will see below that if its a big enough issue for you on a recurring basis, you are able to pursue a remedy in our municipal court.

Here is what we have now:

Regarding your question about the noise emitted from leaf blowers within City limits, the City does not have regulations pertaining to maximum noise levels. You do, however, have the option of filing a complaint in Municipal Court if you feel the noise levels are preventing you from reasonably enjoying your property. Several cities around the nation have prohibited or limited the use of leaf blowers through noise ordinances. The City is in the process of researching noise restrictions in order to recommend changes to City Ordinance in regards to noise. Depending on future City Council direction, the ordinance could have an impact on this issue by restricting the use during specific times and/or setting a maximum noise level.

Sorry we aren't there yet with the update; but its coming.
