Kroger is opening a new store and pharmacy at The Village at Riverstone (18861 S. University Blvd) in Sugar Land this week. They're inviting the community out for a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Opening Day Celebration, which will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 31. Jeff Bailey, who will serve as Store Manager, and senior executives will be in attendance.

The 100,000-square-foot store offers a food-centric shopping experience. That means shoppers can select excellent quality grocery items such as chef-prepared bites and pastries, locally grown fruits and vegetables, Murray's specialty cheeses, premium-cut meats and fresh seafood. There will also be organic choices, international fare, full-bodied wines and craft beers.

"By opening a new Kroger store in Sugar Land, we're giving the community more options to utilize fresh ingredients for convenient and healthy meal solutions," said Rachel Ross, Vice President of Merchandising. "With all the delicious items at this new Fresh Food Destination, Sugar Land residents can take advantage of expanded choices and more ways to save through Kroger."

The Kroger Sugar Land store will showcase a Kitchen Place, Fuel Center and Starbucks. Kitchen Place provides the tools for home chefs to get creative preparing anything they can imagine, whether that be hearty sandwiches or gourmet dishes from scratch. Utensils, small appliances, glassware and skillets will be available for purchase to make cooking easier.

The Fuel Center enables customers to earn discounts on fuel while shopping. One fuel point is earned from spending $1 on groceries, while shoppers can earn two times the fuel points on gift cards and filling qualified prescriptions. Every 100 points saves 10 cents per gallon of gas.
Kroger customers will also love the Starbucks located conveniently inside the store. Serving up baked goods and classic coffee drinks, it's a perfect treat while taking a break from shopping.

Many Sugar Land community members may find it challenging to fit grocery shopping into their busy schedules. Resources like the Culinary Kiosk serve ready-to-eat meals while the Kroger Fresh App gives speedy ordering powers all from a smartphone. Additionally, the Scan Bag & Go system allows customers to scan and bag items as they shop which ensures a much faster check-out process. A week following the grand opening event, Click List, Kroger's online solution for grocery pickup and delivery will be available at the store.
