Now that all of the presents have been opened, Constable Mark Herman's Office wants to share some Post Holiday Safety Tips to help keep your new toys and gifts safe!- Increased spending means more chances to become a victim of identity theft. Monitor your bank and credit card statements and immediately report any suspicious charges. -Don't advertise your holiday gifts to would-be thieves by placing the empty boxes out for trash. Cut the boxes up and place them in trash bags that conceal their contents. -If you got a valuable item as a gift, make sure you record the serial number and any identifying information in a safe place. - If you received cash for a holiday gift, deposit it in the bank or in a safe location inside your residence. Don't keep large amounts of cash in your wallet. - When you get ready to dispose of your tree, don't dump it illegally. Check out Houston's tree recycling program and your heavy waste collection date.
