Sugar Land Issues Safety Tips Ahead of Icy Conditions

From the Sugar Land Police Department:
Sugar Land, we’ve got some bad weather coming our way this week. The low for Wednesday is in the 10s and we’re supposed to get ice, sleet, and snow! The City is working hard to prepare our streets and public spaces, but here are some tips to keep your family and home safe.
-Do NOT drive on icy roads unless you absolutely must, if you do, drive slow, carefully, and see if your car has a “snow” mode or 4 Wheel Drive
-Keep all pets inside, this cold is too much for them
-Charge your devices and portable chargers now
-Have a backup plan for heat, like a space heater (don’t leave one on while sleeping, though)
-Wrap your plants or bring them inside
-Insulate your pipes
-Know where your main water shutoff valve is, in case of a busted pipe
-If you do go outside, walk carefully and look out for ice
-Check in on your vulnerable neighbors
