City of Sugar Land Road and City Services Update

From The City of Sugar Land:

Overnight, city crews continued to inspect and treat roads and bridges with brine to reduce ice accumulation and improve road safety. We also continue to work closely with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to address icy conditions on state highways, including US59 through Sugar Land.

At this time, there are no road closures in Sugar Land. However, city roads likely accumulated black ice during the night. As snow melted and refroze, it can become a thin, clear layer of ice that is difficult to see and makes roads extremely dangerous. Driving over black ice can easily cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Traveling in these conditions puts both yourself and our first responders at risk. For your safety, we ask that you delay travel this morning until temperatures rise above freezing. If you must travel, do so at a reduced speed and avoid elevated roadways.

If you don’t have water at home this morning, your pipes may have frozen. Open all faucets and then turn off the water at your home’s main water supply valve. If you are unable to locate or turn off your main connection valve, contact 311 or 281-275-2900 and a utility staff member will respond to assist. If you experience any burst pipes, contact a plumber.
