Beware of Scams Impersonating Law Enforcement

Loading Image...

From Sugar Land Police Department:

Be aware of this scam! This scammer used a real Sergeant’s name with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office to solicit a callback from a citizen here in Sugar Land. If you receive a live call like this, ask the “officer” for a case number, the District Attorney or Prosecutor’s name, or look up and call the agency’s official number from Google. If you dial the number mentioned in this video, you get a fairly “official” robot with menu options. Pay close attention and you’ll notice the robot says “Sheriff’s DEPARTMENT” not Office, a minor but glaring sign that this is a scam. If you suspect you are the target of ANY scam, don’t hesitate to reach out to us here at the SLPD at (281) 275-2020 or your local law enforcement agency.

There's some guy, local, who is impersonating an officer and harassing homeless people. It was reported on Grizzy's Hood News, and several people recognized him.
