The Sugar Land City Council adopted the City’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget and a property tax rate of $0.371116 per $100 of valuation during its Tuesday night meeting.

The new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

For the median Sugar Land homestead, with a taxable value of $369,495, the adopted tax rate results in an estimated annual City property tax bill of $1,371. This is an increase of approximately $58.83 per year, or $4.90 per month, compared with the current fiscal year.

The budget includes funding for public safety, mobility, parks, utilities, technology, and other City services and infrastructure.

The budget process included public meetings, workshops, and hearings during which City Council reviewed community priorities, service demands, and rising costs.

The City also announced that its FY2026 budget received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for excellence in budget development and presentation.

The next Sugar Land City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 5:30 p.m.

More information is available through the City of Sugar Land’s news releases.
