I am planning on moving to sugar land soon. I met the former mayor david wallace recently who raved about how great the city is. Do you still feel it has a lot of potential?

Have you been to Sugar Land before? It might still have a lot of potential depending where you are moving from and why.

IMHO, @snv86 nailed it. It really depends where you come from, figuratively and literally. Best for you to come for a visit...not to touristy place, but to see around and feel the vibes.

@Bubbapie has been in Sugar Land forever. I wouldn't be surprised if the trend happens all over Texas.
