@Jnainani : What? Were shots fired? Were there loud noises? And Deacon_Blu, are you stating a fact? Was it falsely reported there were shots fired and there weren't?

@Jnainani : Yes, that's what your comment said, but what caused the stampede to the parking lot? Inquiring minds and all, plus I was planning on being there today.

Instagram or Tik toc - about the same.

FORT BEND, Texas - A Houston teenager was arrested Friday night after allegedly posting a threat about the Fort Bend County fair on social media.
According to officials, the Fort Bend County Emergency Communications Center received a tip stating that a man has made a post on Instagram, threatening the fair.
Fort Bend deputies say the post was shared widely on Instagram and reportedly caused members of the community to fear.
After investigation, the suspect was identified as 18-year-old Javon Otis Jackson. Jackson later admitted to authorities that he made the post and was arrested.
Jackson was charged with Terrorist Threat, which is a Class B misdemeanor.
He is currently in custody at the Fort Bend County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
"We have zero tolerance when it comes to the safety of our citizens and visitors," said Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan. "If anyone has any suspicions concerning someone making a threat of any kind, report it to local law enforcement immediately."

@BlackBird : People are saying different things. There are people who were there claiming they heard what sounded like gun shots. Seems like with that many they would be checking bags at least or even have metal detectors.

@snv86 : Texas is an "open carry" state and no permit is needed.

Beginning September 1, 2021, HB1927 made it legal in Texas for most people 21 or over to carry a handgun in a holster without a permit both openly and/or concealed.

This law modified the previous open carry law from 2016 by eliminating the requirement to have a license to carry.

This means that most people 21 or over may carry a handgun without a license to carry.

@Deacon_Blu : Any biz or event can posted that handguns are forbidden. It won't keep them all out, but it does cut down.
@Jnainani : Thanks for the added information.

@Deacon_Blu : I knew that but there are still places you can't take your gun into and I assume the fair is one of those. Also the guy they arrested is 18.

Please be advised that handguns and other weapons are prohibited in these places:

Guns Not Allowed:

Secured areas of the Airport
Courthouse
Polling places on any voting days
Schools
Places of business with visible signage prohibiting handguns
Business permitted by TABC that derives 51% or more of its income from the sale of alcohol
High school, college, interscholastic, or professional sporting event unless the person is a participant and the event involves use of the weapon
Correctional facility; civil commitment facility, hospital, nursing facility, or mental hospital
Amusement park
A room(s) where an open governmental meeting is occurring
