Scam alert from the Sugar Land Police Department if you use Zelle, Venmo, or Cash app

Scammers have been using these payment apps as a way to steal your hard earned money. The scammer will email, text or call you pretending to be with your bank's fraud department. A common ploy is to claim that a thief was trying to steal your money through one of these apps, but don't worry, they can "help you fix the problem".
Then, they instruct you to send the money to yourself, but the money will actually go to the thief's account!
If you ever get one of these phone calls, text messages or emails, hang-up or ignore the email/text and call your bank directly. NEVER send money to someone you don't know, no matter what they say or claim to know about you
