Sprouts in Sugar Land is closing April 30 and it would be awesome if we SugarLanders can all show our interest and finally get Trader Joe's in Sugar Land Telfair.

We don't want to see empty spaces so if we call please click on this link and show our interest.

Thank you in advance

For my Trader Joe's fans out there, PLEASE GO HERE TO REQUEST A TRADER JOE'S IN SUGAR LAND! I am so tired of driving out to Houston to get my Trader Joe's fix. If enough people request, they'll consider our location

If Sprout's & Randall's cannot make it here, then Trader Joe's will probably not make it. Look at all the Asian & S Asian food stores opening in the area and will take business away.
You have to look at the demographics & ethnic backgrounds of the area. That is one reason Trader Joe's will probably not open here.
Your thoughts ?

When I send them a request for a location I put Sugar Land or Richmond/Rosenberg area.

- According to Fool.com, the news site of Motley Fool, the most common demographic for Trader Joe's is Caucasian women 41-57 earning $80,000-plus a year who buy 10 or fewer items during a Trader Joes's visit.
-- Not promising: While a recent study noted that the Trader Joe's chain values "frugality," the study also observed that "stores are normally located in cheaper parts of expensive areas" - not exactly a description of the Sprout's location in Telfair Sugar Land. That is a very expensive location.

@Deacon_Blu : Hmm Trader Joe's has a location in Katy that is an expensive area. I doubt their rent at Lacentera is very cheap.

You're so right. I shop at the Trader Joe's in Katy at LaCenterra when I'm out that way. This is definitely not a cheap lease space. I see allot more than that demographic you described as Caucasian women aged 41-57

Who really knows what Trader Joe's is looking for, but there is something they do not like about a Sugar Land locaction ? The West University & Bellaire people are also trying to get a Trader Joe's. It is Trader Joe's financial decision on where to locate their stores, not the people in the community. I am sure Trader Joe's knows what they are doing so they do not lose $$, like Sprout's did by locating in the Telfair location.
Ask yourself why you and your neighbors did not support Sprouts to keep the location in Telfair from being another empty store front in Telfair ?

@snv86 : I didn't know there's a Trader Joe's at Katy...not far from my house. Thank you for the information...can't wait to check that location.

I wasn't excited about Sprouts even when they opened a few years back. Interesting and nice spread of items but too expensive, they were often more pricey than even Whole Foods for overlapping products.

Trader Joe's though I will often plan around to shop at if I'm driving by an area with one in it. I think they'd do well in Sugar Land or possibly Stafford if near 59 for easy freeway access.

I did support Sprouts almost every week. I loved shopping there. They had many products I couldn't find anywhere else. I will miss their store in Sugar Land. They always had fresh veggies and fruits.

I love the Trader Joe's nondairy ice cream cone. I first got it at Katy and then went to Westheimer as it was closer. SO MANY chains have left Sugar Land area in the last decade, from Dessert Gallery, TollHouse Cookies, Einstein Bros, Dunkin Donuts (until it opened at MO CIty).

Wanted to add, I liked Gerland's Food Fair when it was around at hwy59/dairy ashford. It left and Fiesta replaced it for JUST 9MONTHS! It is now a fishing supply place that apparently is open 6 days a week (closed Sundays)

@Rfin : The City hired a consulting firm to give an idea of why so many business places do not make it in Sugar Land. The results will surprise you. Ask the City for the results.

On our neighborhood page someone said Sprouts shelves are already pretty empty.
