Sugar Land Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Mosquitoes collected near Greatwood Parkway and Wood Dale have tested positive for West Nile virus. The City has increased mosquito control treatments in the area and is working closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services to monitor and reduce potential risk.

Residents are urged to take precautions to protect themselves and their families:
• Use insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
• Wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors
• Avoid outdoor activity at dawn and dusk
• Eliminate standing water around your home to prevent mosquito breeding
