Textile Recycling in the City of Sugar Land

Loading Image...

This week on Going Green Together, they were talking textile recycling! Sometimes we tend to throw away items like bedding, shoes, and other clothing but giving these things a second life keeps them out of a landfill!

Consider donating your gently used textiles to a local charity, or participate in the city's textile recycling program. Just place your textiles in a simple recycling bag and place it out once a week during your normal recycle day at no extra cost. Pro tip: always remember to place the bag a few feet away from your carts and never in or on top of your cart!

I recently tried to do this and visited the City's website only to find out they no longer do this? It sent me to another link and phone number. I have a lot of clothes that I need to donate.

I'm sorry but I think you are mistaken. The City of Sugar Land is still doing this. The number they provided you will drop off the bags to your home so that you can bring your textile recycling out along with your recyclables on Tuesdays. I do it all the time.

@Jnainani : Many people that I know in the community do this textile recycling on Tuesdays. Make sure the bag isn't on top or attached to the recycling bin. It needs to be placed beside the recycling bin.

Is there a place I can just drop off huge garbage bags of old clothes for recycling?

Since you are not a Sugar Land resident, you can donate these items to a local charitable organization.

@BlackBird : How do you know? You might be surprised. Whatever you think is best.
