Three Arrested in Sugar Land Catalytic Converter Theft

On the evening of Thursday, April 9, officers responded to a resident’s call reporting suspicious activity involving two men underneath a vehicle. Upon arrival, Night Shift officers discovered the suspects actively cutting out a catalytic converter, while a third individual waited nearby in a vehicle.
Two suspects were taken into custody at the scene. The third fled on foot but was quickly located and arrested.
Antony Lavan, Tilmerian Avery, and Dwight Townsend are each charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Catalytic Converter, a third-degree felony. Lavan also faces charges for Possession of Marijuana and had an outstanding warrant for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Townsend is additionally charged with Evading Arrest.
