Water Conservation Efforts in Sugar Land: A Community Initiative

As much as everyone all loved that little sprinkle of rain we got on Monday, the City of Sugar Land is still in Stage 1 Drought Conditions. 🙃 What does that mean? It means it's dry and water demand is high. No rain = more water used. Demand is greatest during weekday mornings and early (the city sees y'all out there watering those lawns 👀). To reduce peak demand and total water consumption, the city is asking Sugar Land residents to water their lawns twice a week according to a suggested watering schedule based on the last digit of their home address!

If the last digit of your street address ends in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, or 😎, please water your lawns on Mondays and Thursdays. If the last digit of your street address ends in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, or 9), the City of Sugar Land suggests watering on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you like to water in the mornings, be sure do it between midnight and 10 a.m. More of a night waterer? Set your system to water between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Water conservation is a community effort, Sugar Land! Community participation is essential to reducing the likelihood that the City will need to initiate Stage 2 mandatory water restrictions specified in the Drought Contingency Plan.
